Subject: Incorrect about George Baker and sons being Hessians
Subject: Incorrect about George Baker and sons being Hessians
It says that my ancestors, George Baker and his sons George, Jacob and Peter came to America as Hessians, German soldiers who were employed as “auxiliaries” by the British army. According to Wikipedia, “The first Hessian troops to arrive in North America landed at Staten Island, New York on August 15, 1776.” George Baker and his sons had been in America at least 20 years before the first Hessians arrived.
